Interview: Kemen Sendoa (from Erdemen Honor series, after Honor’s Heir)

To celebrate reaching $25 per story on my Patreon campaign, I interviewed Kemen Sendoa from the Erdemen Honor series. This interview takes place after Honor’s Heir, so beware of spoilers! I’m also sharing this scene for #SaturdayScenes, a weekly event on G+. You can find me on G+ here.   SPOILERS AHEAD!   Kemen enters the room. As the author, I wrote from his perspective, imagining what it would be like to be tall, to be male, to be a soldier, to be a Dari. I experienced these things from his perspective, not my own. Now I see him from […]

Saturday Scenes – From the Sequel to A Fairy King

For #saturdayscenes (an event on G+) this week, I shared a snippet from the sequel to A Fairy King. I’m considering reworking a bit of the end, so some of this may change. Also, I’m pretty proud of myself for finding a piece that only has spoilers for A Fairy King and not the sequel itself. Go me! SPOILERS AHEAD! BEWARE! “Close your eyes.” Cadeyrn’s gloved fingers wrapped around hers, and she felt the world fall away and reassemble itself. The transition was nearly as smooth as it had been that first time, and she smiled to think that Cadeyrn was nearly recovered. The familiar […]

Fan Art!

I just hit a major author milestone: FAN ART! This is, without any exaggeration, one of the most exciting things that has happened to me as an author. Not only did someone love my characters, but she loved my characters enough to draw them! As an author, this is makes my heart go pitter patter. This is why I write. Isn’t he cute? I love this drawing. I like this depiction of Kemen. In my head, he looks a bit like a darker-skinned, green-eyed, longer-haired, more muscular version of Egyptian actor Amr Waked (at least in this photo). Maybe a bit like this color […]

The Dragon’s Tongue: A Long-Forgotten Song (Book 2)

It’s done! It’s finally done. The ebooks are up on all major vendors and the paperbacks should be live in a matter of hours. The Dragon’s Tongue is the best book I’ve written thus far. You will love it. Seriously. The only thing better than this book is book 3, which is being edited now. I cannot wait for you to read these! Go go go! Reviews are appreciated, as always.  You can find The Dragon’s Tongue on all the usual sites: Amazon/Kindle Smashwords B&N/Nook Direct from me

A Fairy King

I just published a new novella! It’s called A Fairy King, and you can find it on Amazon and Smashwords, as well as purchase it directly from me.   Young Hannah receives an interesting letter. Is her pen pal a fairy prince or a prankster? How long will he write to her, and what will change as a result of his letters? He offers her a wish. Can he really grant a wish? What will she wish, and what will she offer him in return?     Early reviewers have said: Magic is alive, love is afoot: There are some […]

Saturday Scenes – From a new fantasy project

This post is from a weekly event on Google+ called Saturday Scenes, in which writers share scenes and snippets from their various works. This piece is brand-new and unedited and may be part of a new project I’m brainstorming. It’s looking like a possible portal fantasy with a few retold fairytales and a bit of a quest. Please feel free to comment!   ~~~   Unseen force hurled her across the room. Whipcord thin, the invisible magic binding tightened around her throat. She choked, and the binding tightened inexorably. She fought, clawing at her own skin. “You’re not real,” Hvardr gasped. He […]

Saturday Scenes – From Friends (working title)

I participate in a weekly event on Google+ called Saturday Scenes, in which writers share scenes and snippets from their various works. It’s a lot of fun to see what others are working on. It just occurred to me that I hadn’t been posting those scenes here. So, here’s the one from this past week. I’ll also share my older pieces from Saturday Scenes as well, and in the future I’ll cross-post to my blog. Please feel free to comment! Often these pieces are brand new and unedited, so you’re getting a rough sneak peek into my newest projects.   […]

Characters I Love: Jareth

Because only Goblin Kings should sparkle. I must have watched Labyrinth at just the right time in adolescence for it to work for me. Or maybe I’m sufficiently weird to appreciate it in all its sparkly glory… everyone I know, online or off, who likes this movie is more than a little bit strange. Jareth is a fantastic character, and David Bowie plays him perfectly. First, I should clarify that I’m only talking about Jareth as written and played in the Labyrinth movie. I haven’t read the sequel(s) and am not sure if I would like them. Unlike many fangirls of the Labyrinth, I […]

Indie Fantasy Storybundle!

I’m excited to announce that The King’s Sword is one of the bonus books in an Indie Fantasy Storybundle! This is a great opportunity to get some fantastic books and discover new authors. Blair MacGregor, the curator, wrote up a blog post and I’ll just let her take it away! *** THE INDIE FANTASY BUNDLE Curated by Blair MacGregor A couple years ago, StoryBundle included my first novel in the Indie Fantasy Bundle. This time, StoryBundle offered me the opportunity to curate a bundle of my own, and I jumped to accept. I couldn’t pass up the chance to share […]

What I’m Reading #4

Here’s a bit of what I’ve been reading recently: Cruxim – Karin Cox – I got this free on Amazon; I’m not sure if it’s permafree or just a temporary sale. I wasn’t sure what to expect – I don’t read a lot of paranormal fantasy, but I did like that the cover didn’t scream cheesy vampire romance. it’s a particularly lovely cover, I think, especially for having the overdone man-with-wings as the main figure. It’s ranked on Amazon as a gothic romance, and there was romance, but there was plenty of other action too. I thought of it more as […]
