FAQ

All my books are written for adults, but most of them can be safely enjoyed by younger readers. None of the books contain questionable language, LGBT themes, or sexual content. The romance is always clean and no-spice, but there may be yearning and pining.

Here are some things to be aware of:

A Long-Forgotten Song series – This is a firm PG-13+ for scariness for most young readers. Your young reader might be fine, but I wrote this to be challenging for adults, and in my experience, it has been. There is violence, there are monsters, there is an evil government brain-washing people, there might be a demon collaborating with the evil government for its own purposes, and it may be too much for younger readers to catch all the themes and challenging theology. It is written from a firmly grounded Biblical worldview, and I truly believe it honors the God I love. But it was intended for a mature audience able to grapple with competing lies and mistaken believes among the characters without being shaken. If you want to share this with a younger reader, it may be a good idea to read it together and talk about it. I let my daughter read it at 14 and she said it was “great but stressful.” She’s rereading it now at 15 and getting more out of it.
The Erdemen Honor series – There is a reference to an off-page rape and the legal consequences of a conviction under military tribunal (execution). There is on-page death and injury, but it is not written to be horrific. I let my own children read it when they were 11. The world is written from an adult perspective. It elevates honor, justice, courage, and integrity.
The Wraith series – The romance is very clean, but there are references to a husband and wife wanting to spend time behind closed doors as a married couple. There is some blood and several injuries. My children read the series at 11 and 12. The series elevates sacrificial love, extravagant grace, and living out repentance. The family relationships are strong and healthy.
Eleria series– There is some blood and several injuries, but it’s not written to be horrifying. The Silent Prince has a major growth arc, Snow Bound has strong, healthy family relationships, and A Long and Valiant Hope has long, selfless devotion to the good of another. My children read these at 12-14.
Fairy King series – sweet, cute fantasy romances. I think my daughter read them at 9 or 10.
Standalones – nothing really to caveat here. My children read these at 11.
